City of Oxford

Touted as the “Cultural mecca of the South,” Oxford is a vibrant small town of about 20,000 full-time residents, located in the rolling hills of north Mississippi.

Home to the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss, Oxford offers all of the enriching activities that being a college town brings, along with the charm and feeling of a small community.

The historic Oxford Square is the center of the city, and it boasts many fine dining establishments, including a James Beard Award-winning restaurant. Oxford’s literary roots run deep as the home of William Faulkner’s Rowan Oak as well as many current well-known writers and authors.

Both the city and county school systems have earned the highest 5-star ranking. Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi provides complete health care services in a new building that was completed in 2017. Oxford was the first city in Mississippi to be designated a “Bicycle Friendly Community.”

Come see why “USA Today” named Oxford one of the top six college towns in the nation; “Outside Magazine” says it’s one of the 20 Best Small Towns in America; and why “Newsweek” calls Ole Miss “the most beautiful college campus in America.”
